UnPubbed started almost 2 years ago as an idea amongst friends. A way to give a shout out of validation to those who'd never been given the "Published" title. A way to let our participants know that we noticed their talent and thought they deserved 15 minutes of fame in a small portion of the scrapbooking world.

As life would have it, new jobs come along and babies are born and sometimes life just gets nuts for a whole group of people all at the same time. We have decided that it's time to bring UnPubbed to an end. We've sincerely enjoyed getting to know all of our Famers and participants and many friendships have been formed through this little challenge blog.

UnPubbed has served it's purpose for now and we hope you all enjoyed your 15 minutes of scrapbook fame.

Hi all! My name is Mika (aka mica). I have been a Mississippian for a little over 3 years now. I live with my husband of 18 years and we have 14-year-old daughter. I discovered scrapbooking about a year before we moved here. When a friend of mine showed me her overseas trip album, I fell in love with it and immediately took up this hobby. Although I didn't scrap at all for 2 years after we moved here, I have been seriously scrapping since December last year. I don't have a particular style. I try to keep my pages simple enough. I love scraplifting and working with sketches. They eliminate a great deal of my frustration and make my layouts versatile. That's why I have been a regular visitor to UnPubbed! I am currently an intern at a local grade school, where I am doing the last months of my education degree. Along with a love of kids and learning, I recently (in the last year) discovered an extreme joy of crafting. I mainly just scrapbook, however, right now I am trying my hand at making cards and other little crafts. When it comes to my scrapbooking I love to do albums for people as gifts (working on one for my dad right now of my uncle who recently passed away and one for my mom of her wedding this past summer) or just for the joy of it. Hi! My name is Marti Cirillo. I'm a stay-at-home mom to two terrific kids. My daughter, Maria, is 11 and my son, Nick, is 9. I am a stay at home mom and entrepreneur, running my own photography studio out of the house. When I’m not busy with my children, running my photography studio, or scrapbooking, I also play the flute and am active in my local church. I love to read, although honestly, since I started scrapping, the bookshelves have been gathering a little more dust than usual. And, as of this fall, I will be a part time preschool teacher. As for my scrapping style, I love to showcase multiple photos (kind of like Lay’s potato chips, I can’t take just one!) and hand-written journaling. I also like to try new things, so my pages are rather eclectic. But in general, I like things lined up and squared off. So enough about me, I can’t wait to see what you all create this week! my name is stacy i am a sort of stay at home to 3 beautiful children i work only when hubby is home or i work alot of nights and i tend to be sleep deprived. i began scrapbooking because of my MIL about 9 years ago she is very much a sticker and journal person with no fancy paper or any other creativity. my friend tannis really got me hooked about 7 years ago into taking more chances and adding more creativity to my pages. in the last 2 years though i have been to scrapfest twice taking classes from such people as jenn starr, caroline from maya road and kei mae smith from fontworks. they really put me at a whole new level of thinking. i also found alot of inspiration from online message boards and challenge blogs because really in red deer there is not alot of scrap book classes that appeal to me i really enjoy learning new things. i love to spend an afternoon with my scrapbook buddies hanging out and scrapping away . my hubs and i recently purchased a bigger house so now i get my own scraproom which i am excited about we move this week. come check out the new scraproom, pics of my beautiful kids or just my day http://stacystonescrapbooker.blogspot.com/ anytime i have been purging so i may have a RAK in there too thanks for the honor ladies and i can't wait to see what you guys come up with :)

her bio: Hello! My name is Abigail, but I generally go by Abby. I'm 20 years old and more than usually strange for my age. I like tea (and I'm adamant that it must be Earl Grey and from Twinings of London) and parasols and foggy days, and when I'm not scrapbooking or doing some other sort of crafty pursuit, I'm usually to be found with my nose buried in a book, watching some costume drama or other and sighing over the beautiful dresses, or writing historical Epics. I'm also fond of photography, rodeos, and crime-show dramas such as Criminal Minds, CSI, or the more light-hearted but tremendously fun Psych, and someday I would like to go skydiving! Hi there! My name is Christina. I’m 26 and live in Seattle with my boyfriend of 8 ½ years Greg. I love playing with art supplies, wearing pretty shoes and watching CSI. (Not all at the same time--but I should probably try that...it sounds like a lot of fun!)
I’ve been scrapbooking seriously for about a year and a half and totally love it! I’ve recently discovered how much fun paint can be on layouts and am still trying to figure out my own personal style. I love trying new techniques. For example, I just learned how to emboss and I have also recently gotten into soldering. I also have a serous addiction to stamps, Hambly and AC Thickers. It's that time and we've got big plans for this little challenge site for 2008. In preparation for those changes, we're taking a little break until after Christmas.

However, Melissa just secured us a bunch of fabulous sponsors and we don't want anyone missing out on prizes. What fun are the holiday's with no gifts??

Instead of our normal schedule of lifting Famers, we are inviting all of you to link us to your holiday creations. We aren't limiting it to just scrapbook pages, either. Home decor, ornaments, paintings, art journals, Christmas cards, a picture of your front yard in all of it's Griswald glory is even okay with us! We figured that's what everyone wants to be creating in the next few weeks anyways, so why not win a prize for it?

Our projects:

Chrissy: not your average Advent Calendar. I didn't want a store bought one, so I turned 25 ordinary match boxes into advent ornaments.

Corey:Collaged ornaments or fancy tags! These are wood ornaments from Michaels. .25 cents I think. Just use your scrap paper and mod podge to collage. Add some glitter and ribbon and ta-da! Hang it on your tree or pesonalize it as a tag for a special gift.

Kim: A mini inspired by Ali Edwards! So much fun! I made the mini in advance (have the design and the painting and the numbers and journalling spots all ready) so all I have to do is enjoy my day, take pictures, pick the best one and journal for the day! Voila!

Melissa: Noel Wreath. I took a Target Dollar Spot wreath, some letters, and a length of fabric and made this wreath to adron my wall.

Melanie: I got the idea from Virginia's blog I bought calendars from the dollar spot at Target. My husband usually writes his overtime hours on the tiniest scraps of paper and then shoves them in his pocket. When I do the laundry I find myself clutching miscellaneous crumbled flakes of paper as I clean out the dryer and after I realize I didn't check his pockets! So I decided to alter a calendar for him to use. This project was a little trickier than I first thought it might be as I'd never created anything for him like this before and all the flowered pink embellishments weren't going to cut this time around! So I had to go with something plain and something he wouldn't be embarrassed to pull out around his co workers!

Hi blogging world! I’m Jen. I love to be scrapbooking, taking pictures, travelling, reading, watching movies, listening to music, playing boggle and pinochle and being with my family. I am the oldest of six kids, married to Ryan (a teacher/principal), working as an Accountant (yes I’m a numbers geek) and living in Minnesota (don’tcha know). I started “officially” scrapbooking my senior year of college. My sister got married and I wanted to do something with the wedding pictures (I took plenty) other than slide them into an album sleeve, so Scrapbooking was a natural fit for me. For me Scrapbooking isn’t only about putting a story to a photo but it’s about sharing a part of my life with those around me and those to come. Also, being creative is a great way for me to use the other side of my brain and give the analytical side a rest.

My name if Jamey Reed. I am so excited and honored to get my fifteen
minutes of fame! I am a SAHM. I have been married to my best friend, David for 28 years. We have three children: Mary Kathryn (Capper) is 26. Whit is 24 and Jim is 21. We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world....Guntersville, Alabama. I have lived here all of my life.

I bought my first scrapbook when I was in the sixth grade. I filled it
full of newspaper articles, pictures and "stuff". Back then, nobody
knew to use acid free products. I enjoy making mini albums and paper
projects, as well as layouts. My other hobby is photography. I would

Bio: Hi everyone! I’m Leah Wright, and I am so excited to have my 15
minutes of fame. I’m from Alabama, have lived here all my life and
can’t imagine living anywhere else. I’ve been married 8 years to John and
we have one daughter, Natalie, that just turned one this month. I
became a SAHM with the birth of my daughter.

I was introduced to scrapbooking about 3 years ago when I attended a
scrapbooking retreat with my best friend. At the time I had no supplies
and no real interest. So while everyone scrapbooked, I hung out on the
couch chatting with them and watching movies. I made my first scrapbook
supply purchase on that trip and began scrapping a few months later.
However, I discovered the online community of scrappers about one year
ago, and that truly started my obsession with the hobby. I love
challenge blogs like this one and get so much inspiration and motivation from
them.
When I’m not scrapbooking I enjoy reading, spending time outside,
Alabama football, and watching movies.

2. In "real life" I am a freelance writer who writes for newspapers and magazines.
3. I started scrapbooking in 2001 and once I started I just couldn't stop! I scrapbook about most of the "big" events in my life (trips, school, vacations, etc.) but also love to scrap the "little" moments (something silly Sydney says, my addiction to sports, an ode to a favorite song, etc.). I don't really have a certain "style," but kinda just go with the flow and see where it takes me. I'm also a fast scrapper and I love to journal on my pages. Rare is the page without a story told on it!
4. Other things I love? All sports and especially my beloved Alabama Crimson Tide; cozy mystery novels; travel; the "Heroes" television show; my church and my faith; any baked goods (especially birthday cakes); girlfriends; and family!

Hi Everyone! I'm Edleen from Sunny Singapore. Our tiny island on the map is quite known for our modern technology and great shopping malls and the best part, we are a Food Paradise! We are also up to date with the latest movies, some TV shows and Music {Yes!} I'm married to my loving husband Roney for 15 years. We have 4 wonderful kids and they are often my scrapbook subject. They totally Inspire Me.

Art was {and still is} my favourite subject in school and I love photography and I have lots and lots of photos and albums from back in the day! Most of my albums are "scrapbooked" with cut outs from wrapping papers, doodling and newspaper clippings. Back then, Acid Free wasn't to be found. And Internet was just being discovered! *wink* In November 2005, when I stumbled upon scrapbooking websites and then stepping into our LSS, I totally fell in love with it! This hobby is like a journey and I love the fact that we can "beautify" and create a story out of our treasured memories.

I’ve been married to my hubby for 6 years and we’ve known each other for 13 years. I have two beautiful children, Bella Rose(4) and Ethan(2). We are one big ol’goofy tribe and that makes me SO happy!! I also work full time with a major airline and I often find myself just trying to get the laundry done. Blog: Feeling Scrappy Today

Bio:
When I was a little girl I would spend hours looking through my Granny Dugan's photo albums. I loved learning about my family, seeing the pictures and listening to Granny tell me the stories. It wasn't long before I started gathering pictures and memorabilia and gluing them in albums.

I'm mom to three great young men Cody (17), Luke (12), and Sam (7). I spent hours on their baby books. I had way too much material for baby books, so I went to Michaels and found the scrapbooking aisle. At the time, I had no idea how many people were into scrapping. I was using markers, pens and my computer. Now I could buy new toys. My friends and family really didn't get it. Thank goodness, Clay, my husband of 18 years is so supportive. Now everyone is used to me following with my camera. My boys have even asked me to look at their books.

In February, I started digital scrapping. I love the freedom it gives me! I don't panic about ruining paper. There is no clean up and it is portable. It is my new passion.

I'm usually a real simple scrapper. That is why I love challenges on the different boards. It helps me step out of that comfort zone. I will try anything and everything!

I really feel honored to be featured here. I hope you like what you see. I can't wait to see your takes on my LO!!!!

Hey ladies, I'm Corey! I'm an avid scrapbook shopper and love to use the stuff I buy every now and then! I started my hobby in early 2000 when my neighbor showed me her CM album. I never went that route, I went straight to Hobby Lobby and began my obsession. Boy how this hobby has changed! I scrap mostly my 2 kids (my daughter is 5 and my son is 1) but do throw some family members in the mix every now and then.

We live in Broken Arrow, OK and own our own business. My title is "support" and my husband does the rest! lol That's fine with me because it gives me more time to scrap!

I love trying new things, and when I see a challenge posted on message boards I try my darndest to do it! My style can't really be defined, in my opinion, I go all over the place! I love a simple layout every now and then, and somedays I can't seem to get enough on a page. I do have to say that switching from 12x12 to 8.5x11 a couple years ago was the best decision I've made for myself and my style. I am currently on one design team and would love to add a manufacturer team to my resume but I feel I'm not ready.

I am so honored to be chosen as this weeks Famer! I can now say I'm among greatness! Thank you, ladies, for this great "reward"!!! Looking forward to seeing your creations based off of my layout!

Bio: Hey ya'll, my name is Elizabeth and I'm a scrapbook junkie and scrap supply hoarder...lol. I started scrapping after my son was born. Well, I started collecting supplies after my son was born and didn't scrap a lo till he was about two and a half years old (and oh what a lo it was ;) My son is now almost 8 and my lil girl is 4. I love to scrap the both of them, my hubby, and our new lil kitten Fritz. I tend to scrap more every day events and have a *hard* time scrapping major events. I don't think I have ever scrapped a Christmas or even a birthday aside from one lil ol lo. I know shame on me, but I just have a hard time doing it.

I tend to be a simple scrapper but have recently stepped outside of my box and started to scrap a lil more on the artsy side. I also have found how much I enjoy scrapping about myself (ya gotta document yourself right?). I'm loving all the challenges that have been presented lately as it helps me to scrap more without wasting much time trying to decide what I am going to do. And believe you me, saving time is a must b/c it can take me over an hour to do one lo!

I just wanna say that I'm completely honored to have been chosen as the next famer and I hope that my lo brings inspiration to all of ya'll and you enjoy giving it a lift.

Chrissy's Challenge

I like options. I hope you do, too. My challenge is more like a five-in-one type challenge. I couldn't make up my mind, so you can chose one portion of the challenge or do all five.

A tough one: The first part of my challenge is journaling related. The story I told in this layout, is one I've been wanting to tell for almost five years. It was tough, I cried the whole way through typing it out, but it needed to be told. I think we all have stories like that. Scrap 'em.

B different: This is something I do a lot. Use a picture that would seemingly have absolutely nothing to do with the story you are telling. On this LO, I used an ultrasound picture to tell the story of a suicide. If you look closely, this ultrasound was taken at Companion Veterinary Care Center. That is how it ties into the story.
C what you can use: Local scrapbook stores often have very cool shopping bags. I couldn't find the right paper for this story. Couldn't go floral, obviously. With so much journaling, I couldn't use anything too busy or distracting, so I cut up a shopping bag with a faint pattern, and it worked! D efine a mood by going monocromatic: I am all about some brown. It's my favorite color and it happened to work with this story. Tell your story by using elements of all one color. E mploy a pre-made sticker in your title: I found these 7gypsie stickers 70% off the other day, and thought to myself, "I'll probably never use them, but they're only 85 cents." As it turns out, they were the perfect precursor for my title. Dig through your stash and see what you've got.

I am many things to many people. What comes to mind is my being a daughter, sister, wife, mother to an amazing daughter, high school English teacher, pop drinker, God-fearer, astrology-loving paper crafter with a house full of show dogs and a perpetual pile of dirty clothes. I have been scrapbooking for seven years, but paper crafting and fiddling with little do-dads for as long as I can remember. I enjoy plying with paper just as much as I love the idea of preserving memories. What a way to pay homage to the people and things that make me who I am, eh?

Getting back into the craft saddle has been a busy time, as I took a sabbatical for about three years, while "life"—with all of its sky highs and abysmal lows—happened. I love color and all things funky, and I try to release inhibitions as I work (It’s cheap therapy).

My scrapbooking style is a hodge-podge of sorts. I never know what'll end up on a page or project. My creative ritual often involves gazing into the photograph, trying to "feel" what the image is portraying, and reproduce that feeling in a layout's design. As a result, each layout or altered item tends to be unique. However, there is a thread of consistency between my layouts--they each have a particular feel, and I hope they convey some emotion!

Corey's Challenge

Hey everybody! So it's my turn to give you guys a little something to keep your creative juices flowing. To tell you the truth, my creative mo-jo (or JO as I like to call it) as been a little non-existent lately. I just haven't been feeling it. I think we're all like that sometimes, aren't we? So, what was I to do? Well I decided to set out on a little experiment:
We all go somewhere every day, don't' we? Maybe you go to the grocery store, or your kids school or maybe it's just the mailbox...but we all have routines and we all go somewhere and do something the same just about every day. Me? I go to work every day. Well Monday through Friday anyways. I commute over 40 miles one way and it takes me just about an hour each way. As I'm driving along one day I kept trying to think of someway I could use that time to do something creative. So yesterday I decided to bring my camera along. I took pictures all along my entire commute. From my street all the way to work. I thought it would be interesting to see the transformation from rural farm land, to windy roads, to city life. Here's the results of my expedition:Some of the pictures I actually stopped and got out of the car, but most of them I was just whizzing by and stuck my camera out the window or just shot it right through my windshield! *caution, taking pictures while driving is at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for influenceing you!...you're supposed to have both hands on the wheel at all times. 10 and 2.* This was a real learning experience for me. What I had in mind, didn't really turn out like I thought it would. And I learned that there really is beauty in every the everyday.
The rural pics were real easy to take. There was so much pretty stuff and I felt like I had more time for an opportunity. Those are real California Happy Cows right there, practically in my back yard. And, did you see that old fire engine? It sits in the middle of a field and I pass it by every day. Some of the pics are blurry, and I totally dig that. It shows motion and movement. It shows reality. When I got to the city, I expected to be able to take pictures of the traffic, road signs, tall buildings, people...you know city things. Well when I finally got there I felt myself overwhelmed #1 with no time to take the pic, #2 too much to look at. I'm indecisive by nature, and it really showed! And then the traffic...There was none yesterday! I'm serious. I was totally shocked!

So....What's my challenge to you? Think about the one thing you do every day. The one place you go, the same route you take. Bring your camera along. I challenge you to take at least 10 pictures of your route. Even if it's just 15 feet from your front door to your mailbox. See what you can see and document it. Make a photo collage in Photoshop like I did, or make a layout. Or better yet, make a whole miniBOOK! Link us to your project in the comments to this post. I'd love to see what you come up with. I'd love to see your commute!

Bio:
For the last eleven years I've been creating scrapbooks. I am a rare scrapper because I scrap chronologically and am caught up. Yes, I have all 29 years of my life in albums. One of the best parts of having all of the albums, is seeing how my style has changed over the years. A layout I thought was great five years ago, isn't quite the same now.

Besides creating layouts, I really enjoy creating miniBOOKS. My collection is growing. Outside of the scrapping world, I like to sew which is a new adventure for me. I am ready to tackle a new project out of the bag or quilt realm. My goal by the end of the summer is to learn how to make some piece of clothing, preferably a skirt. Other than scrapbooking or sewing, I can be found cooking, riding my bike (when the weather isn't too hot and humid here in Minnesota), or hanging out with my friends. I am a very lucky girl to have such great friends.

Lastly, my motto is play and create. This isn't just for scrapbooking, but for life in general. Play and make memories while creating a life you love. That's my goal everyday.

Carla's Challenge

The DT girls at UnPubbed decided that it would be fun to present a juicy creative challenge on the weeks that we aren't introducing a new Famer. I get to go first! So I started thinking about when my love of scrapbooking began. Do you remember those really old layouts you have in your first scrapbook? I'm talking about the layouts that you did when you didn't even know what a "LO" was. I 'm talking about way back when you had no clue Ali Edwards existed!

My challenge to you is to find one of your "old school" layouts and revamp it with your new modern style. You can either use the original pictures or just use the old page as inspiration for a whole new layout.

I decided to go back to the year it all started...2003! The first album I ever worked on was for my wedding and looking through it was pretty funny. I decided on one of my favorite photos that includes my whole family at the wedding. Here is the original layout that I created using some paper from a cheesy wedding scrap kit and I don't even remember what you call the paper I used for the background sqares.

Blog: A Brasilian in Atlanta

Bio:

Let's see...me. Well, I'm 33, married to the best husband in the world (who is very supportive of my scrap habit), and I have one child...I mean, dog named Maggie. I'm originally from Miami, but I live in Atlanta now and I teach Latin American and Caribbean history at a local University. I love to travel, and I have to walk on a sandy beach and smell the salt air at least once a year. I have a strange addiction to cupcakes and Ritter bars, and I'm slowly starting to feel that way about Twizzlers (yeah, I've got a bit of a sweet tooth). I love to read, my iPod goes with me everywhere I go, and I vow to own everything 7 Gypsies makes someday.

I've been a scrapbooker for about 3 years now, and I love it more and more everyday. I've always documented my life in diaries and photographs, with souveniers from here and there, and now with my blog. I think that is the historian in me. I first started scrapbooking to preserve memories from my travels and life, but somehow it became something bigger than that. It's really become a creative outlet, and even a therapeutic one at times. You guys know how it is...you are stressed out, worried about this or that. Then you sit at the table and start putting a page together or start working on a mini-book or CJ, and next thing you know...the stress is gone and you are in your own little world. I've met so many great people and learned so much from them, that it really has become something more than just a hobby. It really has taken on a life of its own.

And now that I'm not teaching this summer, I really have time to play (that is if I can stop spending so much time over at SIStv and on everyone's blogs...geez, talk about time suckage!) Aside from making layouts, I love making mini-books and I'm trying to branch out into more cards and altered things. Art journals are really a lot of fun too, and I've always got one in progress. I'm also doing a couple CJs right now, and those are always fun! My goal this summer is to get through all of my backlogged photos. I have no idea if I can actually do this, but I'm going to give it the old college try. My goal is to make something everyday, and just see how the summer goes. So far, so good!

Karen's 15 Minutes

Meet this week's famer: Karen Mataraza

Blog: view from home

Bio:
I’m just over 30 and I dislike it more with each hair that falls out of my head (good thing I have thick hair to start). What’s that all about? Is it because of my 5 year old or my 3 month old? Two boys—who’da thunk it? Me? That’s so not me. Maybe it’s our Korean dog who whines all day long to go outside to sniff the air? Maybe it’s the hubby, Mike, who still, after seven years, does not understand what a laundry basket does. Maybe it’s the little bit of what’s left of my New York accent that throws him off. He is, after all a native Texan.

But Mike’s accent didn’t show through when I first met him back in 2000. He had just returned to Ft. Campbell after duty in Egypt and our mutual friends didn’t even introduce us. And he didn’t say hello and would not even take his nose out of that menu! I mean, how many things can you order at Outback? I figured he was just another jerk, one of the 80 gazillion I met during my seven years in the Army as a Korean Linguist.

I guess his charm or his like-minded politics worked, because here I am in Texas, where his accent is back and I find myself looking for a safety or straight pin every time he asks for a PEN. I’m 20 hours from a B.S. in Biology and out of dough for school but it’s OK here. Mike has a good job and life is good. But I miss snow, the fall colors, miss my family. Mike’s family is so not the picture-taking/scrapbooking kind.

Yes, I have friends from the scrapbook store where I work two days a week, but no one (my age) to hang out with, go shopping, etc. I need my Mom and my sisters—and my brother (but he’s a boy!) I always had everyone around growing up, now there’s no one; nobody's ear for me to talk off. (And they don’t have a real deli or real hard rolls down here either—don’t even get me started on the Italian food.)

Maybe that’s why I scrapbook? So that Michael and Owen will both know how important they are to me, I spend my whole day taking pictures of us and the silly things we do. Wherever life takes them, they’ll have a part of me and will always know who I am. I have much to tell, or so I think, and they don't know any of it because they don't even know my family.

While I’m the farthest thing from a photographer, I take my ‘best shot’ with a layout in mind. Sometimes I think I spend more time photographing and scrapbooking the memory than enjoying the event itself! Or maybe I just like paper and collecting things? I mean, I was the youngest sister who would steal my eldest sister’s school notebooks just to have the clean, white paper to run my hands over.

Or maybe I just want my kids to know that, at one time, I had a full head of hair!

Meet our First Famer: Nicole Klein

Bio:

I am 29 years old. I’ve been married to Jeff for 6 ½ years. I am currently a stay at home mom, with three kids under the age of three – Jack and Lauren who will turn three in June, and William, who just turned 1 at the end of April. I live in central Minnesota, and even though I was able to travel and explore many fantastic places, this is definitely home. I could not imagine being anywhere else to raise my children.

I have always loved family history and old photographs and have been collecting bits and pieces from my life as long as I can remember. So scrapbooking in one sense or another has always been a part of my life, even though I didn’t quite realize it until 1999, when I started my first Creative Memories album. However, even that step was nothing compared to the entirely new meaning scrapbooking took on once my kids were born in 2004. Now I would have to say I’m just a little obsessed with scrapbooking and documenting the details of our lives.

I would consider my scrapbooking style to be simple as my layouts usually consist of a couple of photos and a few random embellishments here and there. I am definitely a late night scrapper, although whenever I find a free moment during the day you can find me at my scrap table in my cozy little corner of our office. Listening to music is a necessity while I create and a few sweet treats are always helpful as well. In addition to scrapbooking I love taking a ridiculous amount of photos, quilting, sewing, or really anything craft related.

We want to thank you all for the HUGE show of support, and wanted to let you know that we will be showcasing our first guest designer{aka Famer} on May 11.

Our houses are full of stuff.
Items that decorate and things that clutter.
Necessities of life and objects of desire.

And then there are the things that bring a smile to our face in the middle of a rainy day or just by walking by. The object that may just be mundane to any family member or visitor; but to you, it stirs up a memory that overwhelms you. It can be a well worn shirt, a bric-a-brac from a vacation long ago or even a new pair of shoes.

Something. Anything.

I want you to create a layout about this object. And journal what comes to mind.

Me? Melissa. I am happily married to Andy (almost 5 years) and mommy to Tanner (just turned 3!). I am a preschool teacher, but have a million other things that I would rather be doing. Like scrapbooking. And blowing bubbles with Tanner. And eating chips and salsa with a tall glass of Pepsi while watching Heroes.

I started scrapping just over 3 years ago, right after Tanner was born. I had heard about scrapbooking before Andy and before Tanner, but didn't think it was me at the time. I was single and unattached, what was I going to scrap? The dinner I had on a Thursday night or the magazines I read by the pool? To me, scrapbooking was about preserving memories. And, I thought those memories had to be of people, not objects. Of events, not the everyday routines.

Guess I was wrong.

After Tanner was born, I wanted a way to remember him as a baby. More than just his baby book (which is not even up to date). I got into scrapbooking. A quick trip to Michael's and I was ready to go. I remember my first page. It was of me, in labor, at the hospital.

And, it took all day to complete. But, it got me hooked.

If I had to classify my style, I would call it simple. I don't like a lot of stuff on my pages. I love to use little accents, such as brads and buttons. And, I am a hand-written journaling kind of gal.

I really love to buy scrapbooking supplies, and usually stock up on goodies from Making Memories or 7Gypsies. I also love to play with KI Memories, Scrapworks, and Scenic Route.
